Every 18 minutes someone in the United States has committed suicide. Everyday, 86 Americans take their own lives by committing suicide. Everyday, 1500 Americans attempt suicide – 30,000 people per year commit suicide. In New Jersey, approximately 77 young people between the ages of 10 and 24 commit suicide per year. Approximately 819 young people per year between the ages of 10 to 24 are admitted to hospitals for non-fatal suicide attempts. Suicide is the ninth leading cause of death for all age groups...the third leading cause of death for teenagers.
